Legal Practice

My practice continues to be very general in nature. I am currently practicing Elder Law, Probate and Estate Planning, Family Law, Business Relationships, Real Estate, Landlord-Tenant Law, Collections, Banking Law, Consumer Rights Law, Personal Injury and Mediation.

I joined the law firm of Hoeffel, Funkhouser, Short and Hanna as an associate in May, 1979, and have been a partner in the law firm, now known as Hanna & Fisher, since 1981. I have also served Henry County, Ohio as the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and as Solicitor for the Villages of Hamler and New Bavaria. I have also served as President of the Henry County Bar Association. I have extensive litigation experience and have been a trained mediator since 1991. I have considerable experience in document drafting, research and multi-party negotiations. I very much enjoy my personal consultation with my clients, helping them with their current legal issues as well as assisting them in planning for the future with practical and cost effective solutions.

Education & Honors

I graduated from Napoleon High School in 1967, and from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, with honors, in 1971. While at B.G.S.U., I was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. I graduated from the Ohio State University College of Law, with honors, in 1974. While at the Ohio State University College of Law, I served as an Associate Justice, and then the Chief Justice, of the Ohio State University Court. I was also awarded the Dr. George W. Rightmire Memorial Award as an Outstanding Senior Student who excelled in both Scholarship and Leadership.

Military Service & Honors

I was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force in 1971 following four years in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps while at Bowling Green State University. I was promoted to the rank of Captain after graduating from law school and passing the Ohio Bar Examination in 1974. I served as a legal officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Air Force from January, 1975 until May, 1979, on military bases in California and Alaska. While in Alaska, I served as the Chief of Military Justice for the Alaskan Air Command. I was admitted to practice before the United State Court of Military Appeals in 1975. I received the Air Force Commendation Medal in May, 1979.

Courts & Legal Organizations

I was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio in 1974, and before the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio – Western Division in 1980. I am currently a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Henry County Bar Association.

Community Organizations

I have served on the board of directors of the Henry County Bank, Henry County Senior Center, American Red Cross, Henry County Humane Society and Napoleon Parks and Recreation.
